Pavane Op. 50 by Gabriel Fauré is a graceful miniature masterpiece. This arrangement for four guitars or guitar ensemble by Gary Spolding demonstrates how well shimmering orchestral textures can translate onto plucked nylon strings.
Lasting approximately 4½ minutes, the arrangement will suit an ambitious and enthusiastic group of guitarists who have reached grade 2 to 4 standard. The melody is shared between all the parts and Guitar 3 has been intentionally made accessible to grade 2 players whilst remaining melodically relevant rather than simply becoming filler.
If you work in education, this arrangement has these useful features…
- a repeat with a long first time bar
- a D.S. al Coda.
- pizzicato broken chords in Guitar 4.
- accidentals for all guitars that create chromatic harmony.
The piece can be played as a quartet with one player per part or expanded into a larger ensemble, perfect for guitar societies or school concerts. Includes permission for up to 4 additional copies of each part to be made, enabling the work to be performed by up to 20 guitarists. If you have more players please honour the publishers trust by purchasing a second copy.
